Was Austen a snob?

Jane Austen has at times been accused of snobbery as she makes her clearly imperfect characters say snobby things. Emma is perhaps our best example. The contentment gene should be patented. But if not born with it, is there other ways to acquire it? Some have called it the happiness set point.
